Essential Oil Research:
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citrates) essential oil
The essential oil of lemongrass has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the production of cytokines such as IL-1 beta.
Orange (Citrus Sinensis ) essential oil
Orange essential oil has strong antioxidant and anti-aflatoxin B activity against fungal toxins and antimicrobial activity against salmonella spp. It has been shown that aromatherapy with orange essential oil has strong anxiolytic effects.
Lavender (Lavendula) essential oil
According to research, the anti-anxiety effect of lavender through oral use is comparable with Lorazepam. In a cluster randomized-controlled trial, aromatherapy with lavender significantly reduced the anxiety levels in dental office patients and improved the insomnia in college students. It appears that the anti-anxiety properties of lavender essential oil has a modulating effect on stress-related biomarkers. In a study, the increased plasma ACTH levels induced by ether-inhalation tended to be decreased by pre-inhalation of lavender. Smelling lavender also increases free radical scavenging activity.
